Ballon d'Ór 2022: Real Madrid Striker Karim Benzema Wins Ballon d`Or For The First Time
For
decades, the Ballon d`Or has been dominated by Lionell Messi of Argentina and
Ronaldo of Portugal. Things took a very different turn this year as Real Madrid
Striker Karim Benzema won the Ballon d`Or award for the very first time in his
football career.
This
award makes the French man the second player aside from Lionel Messi and Cristiano
Ronaldo to win the award since 2008. Luka Modric who is also Benzema`s Real
Madrid teammate won the prize in 2018.

The Ballon d`Or is awarded for the 2021-22
season rather than the calendar year. Benzema helped his team win the champions
league last season as well as the la Liga title.
The Striker netted 44 goals in 46 appearances
in all competitions this season.
Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich came second,
Kelvin De Bruyne of Manchester city came third and Robert Lewandowski who also
won the Gerd Muller award came fourth.
The Real Madrid striker scored 44 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions
